Getting Started

eppiq Timer uses Machine Learning to identify your customer names within the text of the pages/domains you visit and allocate the time spent on that page to the customer. As with all ML systems, there needs to be some human guidance at the start of the process so that the ML can learn the rules for identifying customers.

When you first log in, you will notice a pale blue bar at the top of the browser screen. This is the eppiq Bar and is used during the initial learning phase of eppiq Timer to verify or change which customer the extension has identified (it can be repositioned or turned off once the client names have been learned)

In order to ‘seed’ eppiq Timer with your customer names, we have provided two methods:

  • The quickest way is to bulk upload of customer names and their primary website domain – prepare a list of your customers in comma-separated format using this template.
  • A drop-down selector on the eppiq Bar that you can use to either select a customer or create a new one if it doesn’t appear in the list.

You can, of course, upload a list of your customers to get started, and then if you have a new customer, you can add it using the eppiq Bar.

If you find the eppiq  Bar is getting in the way, feel free to disable it. We recommend that you turn off eppiq Bar after a few days once you are happy that it is allocating correctly.

How to use the eppiq Activity Monitor

Even in today’s increasingly browser-based business world, there are still many operations undertaken offline, Microsoft 365, Adobe Creative Cloud, Visual Studio, etc use files stored locally or on a file server, which the browser extension doesn’t have access to.

Activity Monitor is designed to link the browser based activities to the offline activities. It sits on your Desktop and scans open windows and file paths for customer related words. For example, if you store your customer data in a logical structure of Drive:\clients\ABCclient then any files accessed under ABCclient would log time against that client.

Tell eppiq Timer about your Projects

We have pre-defined some of the more common Projects and their associated Tasks, but feel free to go in and add your own, you can specify a part of a url or a page title to help eppiq Timer to allocate the time for that Project.
If you have specific client projects, such as a Google Ads campaign name that you want to track time spent on, you can define that here.

Add additional information to help eppiq Timer identify your clients

Go to Clients menu and select a client name
In each client page there are some tabs at the top:

Aliases

here you can tell the system about any identifiable or associated text that you would like to be assigned to the client; for example, if you use a unique email address to access the client’s online accounts (eg clientname@youragency.com or accounts@clientname.com) or if your client has a trading name or acronym they use, enter it here (must be more than 2 characters)

You can also add your client projects names here too, if they are likely to appear in the text on a page, for example, a Monday project plan titled “Summer Offer Campaign”, enter that campaign name in the Aliases for the client.

URLs

If your client has subsidiaries or sister companies that you want to include in the tracked time for that client, enter them here. If you are a coding house and you want to include a localhost\projectname or a staging site address here, you can assign that time to the client as well.
